This year, the city's fashion week returned to its traditional in-person format after two years of virtual events. From May 6 to 8, 40 designers gathered at Toronto's Design Exchange venue to show off their most recent collections on the catwalk. The theme for the weekend is OpenHaus, which is a tribute to the FAT's dedication to diversity and inclusion in general.

Fashion Art Toronto 2022 served as a launching pad for young designers and was the ultimate celebration of Canadian innovation in all its forms. Designs on the runway ranged from deep reflections on the last two years to profound political commentary and genre-defying futurism. Designers utilized the catwalk to convey their own stories.

Charles Lu is a well-known author and illustrator who has a number of books to his credit.

Charles Lu is a rising star on the Netflix competition program Next In Fashion, and you may know him from that show. The designer, who was born in Hamilton, has become well-known for his meticulously made couture and eveningwear. As well as debuting his first-ever eponymous collection, which crossed the lines between streetwear and high fashion, he also unveiled his first-ever signature collection at FAT. Fashion designer Lu combined contemporary corsets and trailing capes with hanging laces, hoodie materials, and ball caps to create an avant-garde mashup of the two fashion types. The range, which features clean-cut designs in tones of black, white, and grey, was totally designed and created by Lu during the epidemic. As the designer expressed it, it conveys a tale about "fighting the battles of persistence" and "overcoming obstacles."
