Salary of IAS

In this section of the article, I have mentioned the topic of IAS officer salary in India in detail and also the salary structure/pay scale of IAS officers according to the 7th Pay Commission recommendation.

With that said let me get straight to the point. The basic IAS salary per month in India starts from Rs. 56,100 (excluding DA, TA, and HRA). This value can go on to reach an IAS salary per month of Rs, 2,50,000, which is the salary of the post of Cabinet Secretary of India.

Talking about the Gross monthly salary of IAS officer, it differs from state to state, district to district. That is because the gross IAS salary per month means includes things like the House rent allowances, and since the house rent allowances are different for different states, we cannot mention a standard Gross monthly salary for each of the IAS posts.

Don’t worry if you are not aware of the topic of allowances. I’ve written about it in detail in the section down below. So, you won’t miss out on anything.

Now let us take a look at the pay scale of IAS officers according to the 7th Pay Commission.

IAS Officer Salary Structure – 7th Pay Commission

Here I have mentioned in a tabulated form the salaries of IAS officers according to the various posts that they acquire according to the number of years of service that they put in. Also note that these salaries are in accordance with the 7th Pay commission.

What is mentioned above in the table is the IAS salary in India excluding the various allowances that the government offers to IAS officers like House rent Allowances, Dearness Allowances, Travel Allowances, Medical, etc.

I have not mentioned the allowances here because the government does not specifically give out details about what allowances are allocated for the various pay grades.

This is also due to the reason that Allowances that IAS officers receive from the govt. differ according to the city of posting, and various other factors. Anyway, I have gathered some info about the topic of the “IAS officer: Allowances and perks”. Let me share it with you.

IAS Officer Allowances

As I have already mentioned above, the salary structure above is devoid of the amount reserved for an IAS in the form of allowances. It is just a table with the basic pays of all the various IAS posts.

So let me clear it for you once and for all, the gross monthly salary or the total monthly salary of an IAS officer = Basic monthly pay + Allowances.

Allowances here are of 3 types, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), and Travel Allowance (TA). Meaning that the toral monthly IAS salary = the Basic monthly pay + HRA +DA + TA.
