In waste treatment plants, the term effluent has a specific application. In buildings, it is a light sewage pump. Submersible Sewage Pump may or may not have an unblocked impeller. It can handle smaller solids in ½” or ¾” size. If the drainage is separated, this will be the choice for smaller greywater applications.

In our world, I think a Submersible Sewage Pump is a bigger sewage pump. These pumps generally have better seals and impellers than small residential sewage pumps. They can be used in greywater and sewage pump applications. Do not use sump pumps in toilet black water applications.

  Application of Submersible Sewage Pump

A submersible Sewage Pump is used for cleaner drainage tiles and rainwater runoff applications. They are usually very small pumps. Price seems to determine this market. If you need a better pump structure, please switch to a sewage pump.

Submersible Sewage Pump usually handles little or no solids. They are limited to 3/8” to ½” solids. These pumps cannot be used for the wastewater applications mentioned above.

  Grinding pump

I deliberately avoid mentioning the grinding pump. These pumps are designed for wastewater applications with municipal mandatory mains. This is a special purpose pump and should not be used in traditional drainage systems.

The heads of these pumps are much higher, and if used improperly, they will cause curve jumps and excessive short-period pumping. These pumps also have cutting teeth, which will bring more maintenance costs to your customers.
