According to different production processes, NdFeB magnets are often divided into three types: sintered neodymium iron boron magnets, bonded neodymium iron boron magnets, and hot-pressed neodymium iron boron magnets. Because of different production processes, they need great differences in product magnetic properties, post-processing, and applications.
1. Sintered NdFeB magnet
NdFeB sintered magnets are the most important and most generally used products within the NdFeB series. It's produced by metallurgy and may be divided into 7 sorts of N, M, H, SH, UH, EH and TH series consistent with the various coercivity of the products.
2. Bonded NdFeB magnet
Sintered neodymium iron boron magnets are difficult to process into special shapes, and are easy to interrupt during the method, fracture and assembly are difficult. so as to unravel these problems, people attempt to crush the static magnet and blend it with a binder, then press it into a particular shape during a magnetic flux. Therefore, bonded NdFeB magnets are developed. It's the benefits of low cost, high dimensional accuracy, an outsized degree of freedom of shape, good mechanical strength, light relative density, etc ., and has been widely utilized in the market.
3. Hot-pressed NdFeB magnet
Hot-pressed NdFeB magnets are able to do similar magnetic properties as sintered NdFeB without adding heavy rare-earth element elements. They need the benefits of high density, high orientation, good corrosion resistance, and high coercivity, but the mechanical properties aren't good. Moreover, due to patent monopoly and high processing costs, only a couple of companies within the market have achieved the production of hot-pressed NdFeB magnets.
In conclusion, the three sorts of NdFeB magnets have their own advantages. Because of the large difference in magnetic properties and molding, the purpose of intersection between the bonded NdFeB magnet and therefore the sintered NdFeB magnet isn't large.
