Voice acting is bad across the board, character animations are rigid in cutscenes, and just as things begin to get interesting it more or less ends and dumps you in merry-go-round of scripted moments during your career. The new manner, The Yard, attempts to be an arcade-style pick-up-and-play experience, but is so watered down it fails to deliver.
The fact of Madden is that if you're craving an NFL football experience then you don't actually have any other choices. Buying the sport on Stadia could reveal EA there is interest in more of their sports titles coming to the platform, which is a general great thing, it's just too poor Madden could not have a better entrance to serve as its debut.
For a more in-depth analysis of the game itself, check out our Madden NFL 21 review on Windows Central. Now let us dive to the gaps on Stadia.
Providentially, the Stadia version of Madden NFL 21 plays great and looks excellent. As is the norm now with all the Stadia version of AAA games, it performs superbly and doesn't have some noticeable issues with lag or latency if your connection is good enough. Anytime you play Madden online kicking does suffer from minor latency problems, but that is the case across all versions of the game -- not only Stadia. This season it is worse than normal so that you ought to absolutely expect to miss a couple of field goals and extra points. They need to have changed the internet code for how kicking is managed or something because even on PS4 and PS5 I was having problems hitting kicks just right and those issues persist in the Stadia variant.
