To see both Brooklyn and Los Angeles advance this much in NBA 2K21's simulated version of the playoffs isn't all that shocking. Not only have these two teams become the most talked about in the actual world all year, but they also probably have the most star power in the league too.
In the launch of NBA 2k21 on current-gen consoles to the last few games of this NBA season, NBA 2K developers have had to adjust the overall ratings of novice players and breakout All-Stars alike. Although the evaluation process is not always perfect (and occasionally makes no sense), the ratings are adjusted to try to properly resemble the players' real-life counterparts and what kind of seasons they are having. The system has treated some players much better than others.
Stephen Curry has only gone up by 2 points in his overall evaluation, but that small increase joins him with Lebron James for the title of best player in the game. Curry started off by shattering his career-high in things, afterwards having a historical streak of matches in which he made more than ten three-point shots in each.
