"We've got a fairly good idea of if something should be mended or'Here is a strategy, and here is how you can make a construct about that''', Rob continues. "And we did not wish to put a stop to that. The other thing is that when something was a bug, but the way that we mend it affects these other systems then that's too risky of a change to make. That's kind of where the point is, but we're still working through these things even today."

Diablo II: Resurrected's biggest change of course is the visual makeover, a 3D layer tailored for numerous resolutions, aspect ratios, and something which may scale easily throughout a wide selection of hardware.

And to get a PC game from twenty five decades ago, the flexibility of this new 3D coating adds additional options for the team -- zooming in a little for those sitting on a sofa, increasing text sizes, opening the framework to show more of the impressive environments for widescreen displays. Scaling varying levels and frame-rates, remastering both the music and audio (with the original voice work intact) for surround methods and contemporary headsets.

That said, obtaining the 3D makeover to appear as good as it will took considerable effort towards bringing all of the 2D assets over. "Some of the first games I worked on were sprite-based games," Rob Gallerani recalls. "When you examine a sprite going up against a wall they are faking the fact that a character looks facing a few pieces and behind other bits. And the way that you do this is you really create a small amount of distance from the wall. In actual fact your character is that plus, you are not 1 block you're five blocks.

"We don't get to do that because we actually are in 3D," Rob continues. "The same goes for a few of the effects in which the older game just did a pallet swap. Take each the colours and flip them so now you're using a different set of 16 colors. We can't do that, we've got normal maps, texture maps, real time lighting. It's entirely different technology".
